Our tennis professionals are highly qualified and have a proven track record in tennis tournaments and instruction. Our diverse team of tennis professionals are here to provide you with the lessons that will take your tennis to the next level. The programs that we have at Caughlin are complemented with a group of professionals that have co
mpeted and played the game at a high level. We create a competitive environment that is fun and enjoyable to all ages and levels of play. Below is some detailed information about the team that we have at the Club. Bob Deller, Christy Funk and Kurt Richter are all members of the Reno/Tahoe Tennis Hall of Fame. The Caughlin Club is excited to have them as the Directors for the Caughlin Club.
Bob Deller: Director of Tennis Operations

Bob has been a tennis instructor for 30 years with experience and success at all levels. His clay court, grass court, and hard court International experience adds additional understanding and insight to the game. Bob is especially fond of running a successful program on all levels and figuring out how to win and still get the most enjoyment out of tennis.
Bob has played on the ITF Pro Circuit and instructed the Reno Ladies 4.0 national champions.He currently has several juniors that have gone on to play collegiate tennis at the Division I level Universities. Bob also enjoys teaching USTA League teams and team individuals on how to get to the next level.

Kurt Richter: Tennis Director
Kurt has over 40 years of playing competitive tennis and enjoys working with players of all ages and levels of play. Having played college tennis and at the professional circuit level; In addition, he was the UNR Men's and Women's Head coach for over 13 years.

Christy Funk: Director of Tennis Activities
Christy has been involved with the Northern Nevada tennis community since 1994. She has captained USTA teams seven times and co-captained eleven times. She joined the Caughlin Club Tennis Department as the Assistant Tennis Director from March 2000 until December 2005 when she left Caughlin Club to pursue a full time career with the United States Tennis Association (USTA). She was the USTA Eastern Sierra Community Tennis Coordinator half time from January 2003 becoming full time until she left USTA in July 2008. Christy is owner/operator of the Funky Tennis Pro shop since November 2007. Funky Tennis is located at the Caughlin Club.
- Volunteer board member of the Biggest Little Tennis Association (BLTA) which serves area youths in the school setting.
- Event coordinator for the Reno/Tahoe Tennis Hall of Fame since 2005.

- World Team Tennis (WTT) Area Director in the Northern Nevada area since 2006. Awarded 2009 WTT League Director of the Year by Billy Jean King and Delaine Mast.
- USPTA Regional Director and USPTA P-3 since 2004.

Steve Johnson: Tennis Pro
As a junior player in Reno, Steve established himself not only as the top rated junior player in Nevada for his age division, but he was also a top five rated junior singles and doubles player every year in Northern California from ten years old through 18. He was three times Nevada state high school tennis champion while he attended Reno High School and competed at the Division 1 collegiate level at West Texas State University which he attended on a full tennis scholarship.
- Steve has competed on a professional level and a national level both as a junior tennis player and as an open adult player.
- West Texas State Team Champion – Missouri Valley Conference.
- West Texas State 1974 – 1977 D1 Collegiate. #1 Singles and #1 Doubles two consecutive years.
- Ranked top 10 in Northern California Juniors ages 12 – 18 from 1971 - 1973.
- Nevada State High School Champion – three consecutive years.
Jan Carson: Little Pro Coach
Jan is the co-head pro for the Little Pro and Future Pro tennis programs at Caughlin Club. Jan comes with experience working with the Biggest Little Tennis Association a local group that provides tennis in schools. She enjoys the 12 and under age group and looks for new and creative ways to bring tennis enjoyment into their lives through the games approached technique.

Kristen Ratto: Little Pro Coach
Kristen works with the Biggest Little Tennis Association, a community group that provides and facilitates many different opportunities surrounding the game of tennis. She enjoys working with Little Pros and Future Pro tennis programs at Caughlin Club, and feels an on-court sense of fun is the best approach to teaching the game.

Jeff Day: Tennis Pro
Jeff loves the game of tennis and enjoys sharing the game with others eager to learn, and improve their skills. He loves to work with all age groups and promote the game to all who are advance or beginning. Jeff has been a Nevada resident for 18 years. He has a BS degree in Materials Science Engineering from the University of Washington - Seattle. Jeff is the founder and CEO of Cal Ramic Technoligies, LLC, a Reno based manufacturer of electronic components for the Aerospace and medical devices around the world.
